Traditional Tibetan Healer
We are very excited to welcome back Amchi Nyima to Amadell for the second year. During his visit he will be offering traditional Tibetan healing treatments and will also be assisting in a variety of programs on herbalism and alchemy (TBA March 2019).
About Amchi Nyima
Amchi Nyima Gurung lives in the city of Jharkot in Mustang, Nepal with his wife and 2 sons where he is the only local doctor along with his father just as his father before him, going back nine generations. His family medical lineage includes the personal physician to the kings of Dzar Dzong. He has been formally trained as a Traditional Tibetan Doctor which includes diagnostics by pulse, urine, and astrology and treatments that may include massage, acupressure, “energy work”, herbal medicines, diet restrictions, or prayer/ritual - all to balance the elements within the body. He is open in sharing his experience growing his own medicinal plants, special methods of harvesting, and then creating specific formulations for patients. (Click here to learn more about Traditional Tibetan Medicine.)
In addition to his traditional medicinal arts, Amchi Nyima practices the Yung Drung Bön and embodies the Medical Knowledge of Zhang Zhung brought to this world by Buddha Tonpa Shenrab Miwo, from Tibet over 10,000 years ago, who manifested as the Sangye Menla / Medicine Buddha to receive the suffering of all sentient beings. (Click here to read more about Bön Buddhism.)
Amchi Nyima has travelled the world sharing his practice and healing as well as assisting at many Bön centers. He comes to Virginia and Colorado every spring and we are so honored to now have him visiting Amadell as a part of his annual US pilgrimage. Amchi (OM-chi) is Tibetan for doctor and Nyima (NEE-mah), his name, means ‘Sun’.

Traditional Tibetan Healing Treatments
During his stay here at Amadell, Amchi Nyima will be available to offer treatments.
Pulse Taking Consultation - $20 donation (5-20 min)
Tibetan Massage Treatment, “Ku Nye” - $100 donation (30-70 min)
Medicine Mantra Prayers - open donation
100% of proceeds directly benefit Monastic and Medical Centers in Nepal. Please help us support the health of this small Nepali village.
It is suggested to receive a pulse reading before the massage treatment, however you may receive just a pulse reading. He will open and close the massage treatment with special blessings and prayers. His diagnosis from the pulse reading will be in the terms of balancing the elements within the body. Please be aware Amchi Nyima's English is limited but he is patient in making sure you understand. The massage treatment involves various techniques which may include hot oils, herbal rubs, or other practices. Since these are performed intuitively and specifically to your healing, it is not possible to say what exactly your treatment will entail or the exact duration of the treatment.
Note: You do not have to have a specific health need/problem to benefit from Ku Nye as the focus of the treatment is on creating a perfect balance of elements in the body. If you are experiencing a pain/ailment - this could be physical (topical or internal), emotional, or spiritual - Amchi Nyima will work specifically or pay special attention to that imbalance but will always treat you holistically.
For weekend appointments, treatments will take place at Amadell sanctuary in Luck, NC (about a 45min drive from Asheville). For weekday appointments the treatments may be scheduled in our new downtown Asheville office location by request. Please select your preference below and we will try to accommodate. Schedule is very limited and is first-come basis for requests received. Thank you.
March 2019: We are accepting treatment requests and will guarantee an appointment if requested now. Exact day/time scheduling will be confirmed 01 April 2019. Any requests received after then will be subject to availability. (Please book soon, his schedule fills quickly.)
